Do you ever stand in front of your closet wondering what you are going to wear that day? You know there’s stuff in there that would be perfect, but you just can’t seem to put it all together in your mind. Or, maybe you just have too much stuff crammed into too little space and can’t seem to see enough to pick the perfect outfit out of the jumble. Well, soon, there will be an app for that.
StylePuzzle is a soon-to-be-new app that will help you make sense, and cute outfits, out of your existing wardrobe. This won’t be some high-cost list of perfect outfits that you don’t have, will never, couldn’t afford, wouldn’t like, and don’t resemble anything you wear. Nope, they will use the items from your own wardrobe to automagically conjure up outfits for you. To me that sounds like a dream come true. I often find myself wanting to try new outfits, or just find one in the first place for a specific occasion, but I just can’t seem to manage it without lots of trying things on and discarding them. Or, worse yet, I just fall back on tried and true outfits because they’re familiar and “safe”. I need this app to help me break that habit and save me some valuable closet-staring time.
So, how does/will StylePuzzle work? The app requires that you create an inventory of the items in your wardrobe, either by snapping a picture or looking the product up online. Then, you can group those items into typical outfits you might wear, detailing whether they’re casual or formal attire, and what day of the week you might wear it. When you are stuck for something to wear, you can use the app to discover the clothes they’ve forgotten about. After selecting the type of outfit you are looking for, the app then pulls together your items into suggested outfits based on your previous preferences. Additionally, the app takes into account the weather and the events in your calendars to further tailor the recommendations. The more you use it, and the more you rate recommended outfits, the better and more personalized the suggestions from the app will end up.
At the moment, StylePuzzle is still in a private beta, so the details are a little scarce. They refer to it as Pandora for fashion and from the sound of it I would agree. If you are interested in trying out this app, you can sign up to the StylePuzzle mailing list to be alerted when the app does go live. I think this is a brilliant idea and can’t wait to try it out.
