It’s our anniversary this weekend, so with only slight nudging and persuasion my husband, Dave, bought me a bottle of the gorgeous Connock London Kukui perfume. I had gotten a sample of this in my November 2013 Glossybox and totally fell in love with the scent. It’s like a Hawaiian holiday in a bottle. Truly. It has all of the beautiful floral scents that I remember from our trips there, including our honeymoon, so it is the perfect anniversary gift. Plus, he decided to get the Kukui oil candle as well, so even if I’m not wearing the perfume we can still have the scent of a Maui holiday.
Connock London wanted to create something that captured the spirit of the Hawaiian islands when blending this scent. From my first little sniff of this, that is exactly what it reminded me of, so I would say they were spot on with their blending. Here’s what they say about the blend of fragrance notes on their website:
This elegant floriental fragrance is built around the Gardenia flower and is complimented by a full bouquet of fresh flowers including Italian Bergamot, Moroccan Rose, White Jasmine and Calla Lily. The scent is further enriched with Sandalwood, Vetiver, White Amber and layers of cashmere and sheer musks, completed with the rich bitter chocolate sweetness of Vanilla Absolute and Tonka Bean.
I’m definitely not an expert on perfume but I do know what I like. And I love love this perfume. This perfume has a gorgeous subtle floral scent that makes me think of nighttime walks on the beach in Maui when you can really smell the subtle floral scents. That scent always takes me instantly back there. The power of smell to evoke memories and feelings is remarkable and Connock London have certainly played on that beautifully with this perfume. For me, it is one of those scents that can make me instantly relax just a bit too. I can’t wait to light the candle, with the included matches (very thoughtful), because I’m sure it will be as lovely and relaxing as the perfume. The candle actually smells really wonderful just sitting on the table next to me right now.
I must admit I have been wanting this since I received my November 2013 Glossybox, but I have been reluctant to indulge myself for the £75.00 price. Of course, the less frugal part of me totally thinks that anything that smells this beautiful is certainly worth that price. I don’t really wear perfume ever, but now that I’ve gotten this, I will have to turn over a new leaf and spritz a bit on everyday. This scent is perfect for summer too because it is so light and has beautiful floral notes but isn’t at all heavy or cloying. I also noticed yesterday when I put some on that it was still fragrant a number of hours later and fades into a whisper of jasmine and gardenia that is just as lovely.
The nice people at Connock London also included another sample of the perfume in the box, as well as a sample of the matching hand cream. Since I’ve almost used up the sample I received in November, this is perfect timing so that now I can take it with me on my summer holidays too. The ordering process was quick and painless through the Connock website and we received the order in just a couple of days. They have a whole collection of products made with the Kukui Oil, which is apparently really good for the skin so it works great in bath and body oils or lotions too.
I haven’t bought perfume in years and years, so long that I don’t even remember the last time I did it. So this is a real treat for me. It also says a lot about how much I love the scent of this too. Even Dave has remarked on how beautiful it smells and how it reminds him of being in Hawaii. So, really, it’s an anniversary gift for both of us since it makes us remember our holidays to Hawaii, right?
