Dior Vernis Cherie Bow Nail Glow

While I was writing my post the other day about the Dior Addict Lip Glow, I realized that I have had the Nail Glow for a year and haven’t written about it yet.  And I LOVE IT, so it’s weird that I forgot to write about it.  So, today I am going to rectify my past oversight.

I’m not a big manicure person.  I like to have nice looking nails but I don’t go overboard with it.  I have a range of nail polish but truthfully it is all for my toes, except for the divine Dior Nail Glow.  As soon as I saw the first announcement of this, I knew I had to have it and that it would be perfect for me.  Luckily, it did not fail to live up to all of the hype.  Nail Glow is the same concept as the Dior Lip Glow, except for nails instead of lips (as I said in my post the other day).  It gives your nails a polished, shiny look with just a hint of pink that somehow, as if by magic, makes the white part whiter and the rest healthy and pink looking.  It just exacerbates the natural colour of your nail area, I would say.  Here’s what FeelUnique has to say about it:

To reveal the natural beauty of your nails, Dior has invented Nail Glow. A treatment nail varnish that makes pink pinker, and brightens nail tips for an instant French manicure look.

I just absolutely love the Dior Nail Glow!  With just one quick coat you can transform your nails.  You will really look like you just had a manicure because your nails will have this lovely shine to them and the colour will make your nails look healthy and your tips look white.  It’s not quite up to the whiteness level of a true French manicure, but is likely the best solution for an at home manicure.  I’ve also tried this on my feet to get a similar elegant finish to my toe nails.  While I still like some colour on my toes, this has definitely become my go-to polish for my finger nails.

It’s the quickness of it that is really impressive too because all you need is just a single coat.  You don’t even need two, but if you choose to do two coats the pink and white areas will be even brighter.  I have found that sometimes with two coats though my pink part starts to look a little violet in colour.  That could just be due to the natural colouring of my nail area though.  The pink/purple colour can also be intensified if you are wearing clothing of that colour.  So now I just do a single coat because it doesn’t seem to be affected as much by what I’m wearing.

It is quite durable, even with just a single coat.  I find that it looks good still after five to seven days, depending on what I’ve been doing with my hands, but definitely at the end of a week it needs a refresh.  Of course, since it is so quick and easy, you don’t mind taking the few minutes to re-paint your nails.  Plus, the bottle is small enough that taking it with you on a trip isn’t a big problem either, even with the restrictions on flights.  For what it’s worth, I tried putting a clear coat over the Nail Glow and wasn’t impressed with the results.  It didn’t make it any more durable, which was my hope, but seemed like it just make it flake off faster.  I don’t think my top coat was with a Dior product, so maybe that would make a difference.  However, since the Nail Glow works so nicely all on its own, it hardly seems worth the added hassle of putting a different clear coat on top.

Part of the ease of applying the polish comes from the really nice brush design that Dior have come up with for all of their nail polish.  It’s kind of wider and slightly curved at the end, but flat.  The whole shape of it makes it very easy to cover your nails almost perfectly with just three strokes of the brush.  Plus, it doesn’t seem to veer towards having too much polish on the brush and thus making a mess of your nails.  It applies a nice coat of polish that isn’t glumpy and will dry pretty quickly.  I’ve never timed how quickly it dries, but it’s just a few minutes before I can resume normal activities without the fear of smudges or damage to the polish.  I think the little chubby bottle for Dior polish also makes it easier to handle but that could just be me and my preferences.

I use my Nail Glow all the time and the current bottle has lasted for almost a year, so it seems well worth the price of £18.00 (at FeelUnique.com).  I’m actually in need of a new bottle, finally.  I think since you need just a single coat, it seems to last and last and last.  This is the perfect polish if you like your hands to have a finished look but don’t want to pay for a weekly manicure and want something that looks better than just a slap of clear polish.  Also, unlike some colours, this looks great on nails of any length.  You can get excellent results in just five minutes and I really don’t know any other polish that can match it.  I would highly recommend everyone have a bottle of this because it works so well.  There’s no excuse now for not having very lovely looking nails all of the time now.

Dior Addict Lip Glow

I really love lip gloss and have probably way too much of it.  However, I always feel like my lips get dry and chapped too easily if they are left bare and unprotected.  Plus, lip gloss tends to give you a more sheer coverage and doesn’t seem like as much of a commitment as full on lipstick, which is perfect for those of us that are into a lighter makeup situation.  I like that lip gloss can be versatile enough for a fresh faced barely-there makeup look or a night out with smoky eyes.  And while looking fabulous, it keeps your lips moisturized and healthy too.  So, needless to say, I knew as soon as I saw the Dior Lip Glow that I would have to add it to my collection eventually.  I feel pretty good that I held out this long until there was a vacancy in my collection.

Here’s what Dior has to say about Lip Glow:

A made-to-measure lip balm that beautifies and durably enhances the lips’ natural colour. A customised colour result : thanks to its Colour Reviver technology, Dior Addict Lip Glow reacts directly with the unique chemistry of each woman’s lips before releasing its colour ingredient. Lips seem revived from within, amazingly fresh, full and radiant. In addition, its formula enriched with wild mango and luffa cylindrica continuously protects and moisturises. A universal balm for all lips.

I would say that the Dior Addict Lip Glow is very similar to the theory behind the Dior Nail Glow, but for lips instead of your nails.  It looks very sheer with a soft pink colour in the tube and sort of like the more upscale cousin of something like Chapstick.  When I put it on it feels light and smooth, not at all clumpy or sticky, and it looks softly coloured – neither too bright nor too pale.  It seems to really just enhance and highlight the natural colour of my lips, making them a bit more vibrant but not like I have anything on them really, just kind of shiny and healthy looking.  I find the colour that it ends up being on my lips really flattering with my skin tone, especially for a fresh makeup look.  Plus, it seems to keep my lips feeling very moisturized and healthy.

The other good thing is that it lasts quite some time, even with eating or drinking or lots of talking.  For instance, on Saturday morning I applied some Lip Glow and then went shopping and ran some errands but still could feel and see it on my lips at least four hours later, even after drinking.  I was pretty impressed because most of the time lip gloss evaporates when you drink something or just melts away after a couple of hours anyway (or maybe just one, depending).  After wearing it for a couple of days, I have noticed that my lips have felt smoother and softer too.

I’m totally hooked!  I am a Dior Addict.  I love the Nail Glow and now I love the Lip Glow too.  I love the natural, healthy, polished look and these products are perfect for that.  This is the perfect lip colour/gloss for spring and summer because of its light texture, incredible shine, and natural colour.  It will allow you to have that fresh look that is so right for this time of year.  I’m positive that this will now have a permanent place in my collection of lip gloss.  Honestly, I like it so much that I have been thinking I might get a second tube of it to keep in my purse so I won’t be without it.

I bought my Lip Glow at FeelUnique.com, however, you can find it anywhere they sell Dior cosmetics.  At FeelUnique it is £22.50, which seems to be the price everywhere I looked – Boots, John Lewis, Debenhams, and Harrods – except Amazon where it was about a pound higher.  So, really, wherever you buy your other cosmetics you can probably get this too, as long as they sell Dior cosmetics.

SheerLuxe’s List of Top Beauty Launches You Should Know About

Today in my SheerLuxe newsletter they had a link to fifteen new beauty launches that I wanted to share with everyone here.  If you want to see all of the images, you’ll need to go to the SheerLuxe website, but I’ve got the list below.  I actually ordered the list in order of what I think sounds most appealing; obviously, your order will probably differ.

I love the look of the Dior Lip Glow and will probably get that in the next couple of weeks.  It sounds like it does for your lips what the Nail Glow does for your nails and I absolutely adore that.  If the Lip Glow is as good as the Nail Glow I will certainly feel like it was worth the price.  The Sisley Phyto Lip Twist lipstick looks like it would be nice too but that could be because it reminds me of the Clinique Chubby Sticks, but in more vibrant colours.  I have been fascinated with the Guerlain Meteorite Perals for a while now.  I’m not sure if this will be the time whenI actually decide to purchase it or not, but I find myself strangely drawn to it and I wonder how well it actually performs.  And of course, the Estée Lauder Derek Lam Collection had to be at the top of my list because I am a sucker for these kinds of things.  It’s got everything you need to look sensational for a night out, or in, depending.

Am I the only one that thinks £17 for mouthwash is crazy and ridiculous?  You can get Plax, alcohol-free formulation, for way way way less than that and it probably works just as well if not better.

We’re All Moved….Except for the Organizing

Well, it has taken me longer than I thought it would to get moved, unpacked and most things even put away.  Plus, we didn’t have broadband here at the new flat until late last week!  I didn’t realize how much I depend on the Internet until I could only access it with spotty coverage from my mobile phone.  Yikes!  But finally we feel like we are settling in to the new flat and hopefully a few more days of organizing will get things in hand.

Since moving can be so stressful, I decided that I needed a bit of a reward, so I did a little shopping at FeelUnique.com and have a few things on their way to me as I type.  I didn’t get anything that exciting, but they were things I’ve been wanting to try.  So, here’s what I got:

As you can tell from this combination, I’m trying rather hard to get my skin to look a bit better, more even and less splotchy.  My skin has been looking pretty lousy lately, I’m not sure if it is just the stress from moving or (more likely) the lousy eating habits I’ve had for the last couple of weeks.  Well, and I haven’t been exercising either.  Given all of that, it’s not surprising that my skin looks so horrible, I guess.  Of course, I also have a few pigmentation problems from past sunburns and such.  I’ve decided that it is best to do something more long term to conquer the pigmentation problems as well as the natural dullness that comes with getting older.  In concert with that, I’m also trying to find a really great concealer for the splotchiness and the dark circles under my eyes.  Hopefully, this will help my skin look beautiful and lovely and not like I have a bunch of makeup piled on my face covering yucky skin.

I’ve read really good things about the Lancome DreamTone Dark Spot Corrector and I truly hope it lives up to all the hype.  You have to pick from three different skin tones – fair, medium, and dark.  Presumably/hopefully, this is because they are truly targeting things differently for the different skin tones.  In a test with 209 women they found that:

  • 70% saw a visible reduction in Dark Spots.
  • 84% saw a visible improvement in Skin Tone.
  • 80% saw a visible reduction in Colour Irregularities.

All of that sounds really great and makes me quite hopeful.  I’m going to do some photos so that I can track its effectiveness and then write up a post or two to let everyone know if it actually seems to work or not.  But I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed!

As far as the concealers go, I read a lot of reviews and information.  I ended up choosing two that seemed to get good reviews and were in two different price ranges.  Certainly it would be great if the cheaper choice from theBalm worked really well and was a great option because who doesn’t like paying less for things that work well really.  And it does get really great reviews.  However, so does the Dior product, which is almost twice as much, naturally.  I can’t wait to see which concealer works best for me and my skin.

The other great thing that I discovered when I placed my order is that FeelUnique.com is now offering three free samples with your order of £30.00 or more.  And not only that, but you get to choose!  I was able to choose my three free samples from a selection of six.  Three were perfume and three were skin care products.  I’m not big on wearing perfume, so I went for the skincare products:

I love being able to try new things and these little samples are the perfect way to do that.  I’m really pleased that FeelUnique.com started doing this because they are more top choice for purchasing cosmetics, skin care, and hair products.  So, you can get three samples and free shipping. How can you not like that?

As a result of moving, my new project is organizing all of my makeup, skin care, hair products, and such.  I’ve been keeping all of my stuff in a couple of makeup bags for more than nine months while we were, so it will be great to have them out where I can actually see what I have.  Plus, I was reunited with all of the things I had in storage.  I found a few brand new things that I had forgotten about even.  It was almost like Christmas or my birthday!  It’s hard to find something that will keep things covered that require that but also make things nicely accessible and easy to find.  I’m still searching for the perfect thing though.  So far my favourite solution is a toolbox.  Yes, like you would keep a hammer and screw driver in normally.  It’s certainly not glamorous but they have the right type of compartments and can keep everything together in one handy place.  But I’m still looking for something that might be more girlie.
